Senior Research Associate/Associate Scientist

Biology/Immunology

We are seeking a Senior Research Associate or Associate Scientist to join our Biology/Immunology team. The title is commensurate with the candidate's experience. This role is ideal for a highly motivated, adaptable, and experienced lab associate passionate about advancing a revolutionary class of protein therapeutics. This team member will play a critical role in developing in vitro and ex vivo assays to test/verify the activity, and understand the mechanism(s) of action, of Antibody Cages (AbCs) in biological systems. This team member will also work closely with the Lab Operations group to support day-to-day lab upkeep tasks (reagent/consumable tracking and restocking, equipment maintenance, etc.) when necessary. The desire to learn and grow as a technical expert and lead from the bench will be critical to this team member’s success.

If you are excited to be part of a team that’s transforming the future of biologics, we want to hear from you. Please submit your resume and a cover letter detailing your relevant experience and what inspires you about Archon Biosciences. Let’s shape the future of medicine together.

  • Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop, optimize, and conduct in vitro and ex vivo assays to test/verify the activity, and understand the mechanism(s) of action, of AbCs in biological systems

    • Timely analysis and accurate curation of experimental results in an electronic lab notebook (ELN). Regularly reviewing experimental results with their manager.

    • Generating presentations explaining experimental approach, results, and conclusions to the Research team on a weekly basis. Articulating plans and next steps to drive progress towards accomplishing Research Program scientific objectives and goals.

    • Keeping accurate and up-to-date records of internally generated reagents (antibodies, AbCs) and commercially sourced reagents used in in vitro and ex vivo assays

    • Collaboratively work with other Biology and Research team members to identify areas of improvement in workflows and communication

  • Required Qualifications:

    • B.S. in Biology, Immunology, or a related field with 4+ years of industry experience

    • Expertise in tissue culture, sterile technique, cell propagation and cryopreservation of immortalized tumor cell lines and primary mouse and human immune cells (e.g., PBMCs, T cells, DCs, macrophages, etc.)

    • Handling and processing of human blood products, followed by immunomagnetic isolation and activation/differentiation of immune cells

    • Experience in mid-to-high throughput testing of serially diluted compounds in multi- 96- or 384-well bioassay formats to compare compound potencies (ie., EC50/IC50s)

    • Experience in conducting endpoint assays such as luciferase reporter assays, ELISA/MSD immunoassays, and Western blotting for receptor signaling and total protein levels

    • Experience in various flow cytometric analyses such as multi-color PBMC/T cell immunophenotyping, T cell activation marker induction, CFSE/CellTrace proliferation assays, and surface receptor copy number quantification

    Who We Are:

At Archon Biosciences, we are redefining what’s possible in drug development. Our groundbreaking Antibody Cage (AbC) platform—spun out of work spearheaded by Institute for Protein Design faculty out of Dr. David Baker's Nobel Prize-winning lab—combines antibodies with computationally designed proteins to create novel nanostructures that target previously undruggable diseases. AbCs, A revolutionary class of computationally designed biologics are engineered to unlock challenging pathways and better treat disease.

Headquartered in Seattle, WA, Archon is a fast-growing biotech company operating at the intersection of generative protein design and therapeutic innovation. We recently emerged from stealth with $20 million in seed financing led by Madrona Ventures with participation from a group of extraordinary investors. With this capital, we have assembled a team of world-class scientists and drug developers to develop the AbC technology and select development candidates set for IND. We are passionate about pushing the boundaries of medicine to improve patient outcomes.

    Our Culture:

Innovation, collaboration, integrity, and impact are at the heart of everything we do at Archon. We value diversity in perspective and foster an environment where curiosity and creativity thrive. Our team is united by a shared drive to achieve groundbreaking results and make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients. We want good people that do great work. If you are looking for a dynamic, fast-paced environment where your contributions matter and will have impact, Archon is the place for you.
