James Lazarovits, Ph.D.

Board Member, Co-Founder

James Lazarovits, Ph.D. is chief executive officer and co-founded Archon Biosciences with Dr. George Ueda, Ph.D. in 2023. James brings twelve years of materials engineering, deep learning and startup and investment experience in AI, software, hardware and robotics. 

Prior to starting Archon, James was at the forefront of AI research in computational protein design having been a post-doctoral fellow under the directorship of the 2024 Nobel Prize Winner in Chemistry, David Baker, Ph.D. Based on recommendations by Dr. Baker and the Institute for Protein Design (IPD), James held a Research Faculty and Translational Investigator position to co-run a translational research group at the IPD with co-founder, Dr. George Ueda, Ph.D. to build, develop and validate Archon’s core technology platform.  

Before the IPD, James completed his doctorate under Dr. Warren Chan, Ph.D. a world leader in nanomaterial delivery at the University of Toronto. There, James published works on integrating deep learning methods to build new strategies for overcoming delivery inefficiencies for therapeutic and vaccine applications. During this time, James also advised and guided the growth of several early-stage technology companies that have cumulatively employed hundreds of people.
