George Ueda, Ph.D.
Board Member, Co-Founder
George Ueda, Ph.D. is chief technology officer and co-founded Archon Biosciences with Dr. James Lazarovits, Ph.D. in 2023. George was one of the first scientists to show the utility of designed proteins for vaccine and therapeutic applications. He now leads the technology and design strategy at Archon to integrate breakthrough advances in computational protein design to build AbC therapeutics.
Prior to starting Archon, George held an appointment as a Translational Investigator at the Institute for Protein Design within the University of Washington. There, under the Directorship of the 2024 Nobel Prize Winner in Chemistry, David Baker, Ph.D. George led a translational research group, alongside co-founder Dr. James Lazarovits, Ph.D. to develop the AbC platform and early preclinical candidates.
Before becoming a translational investigator, George completed his doctorate in biochemistry and postdoctoral work in computational protein design in the Baker laboratory with a focus on the design of de novo self-assembling protein complexes and their application as new vaccines and therapeutics. George’s inventions made during his thesis work were licensed to a publicly traded biotech company and have been under clinical development in partnership with the National Institutes of Health.
